Joey's journey into the world of body piercing began with a childhood fascination for plastic surgery, sparked by watching plastic surgery shows with his mom. Though his dream was once to become a plastic surgeon, that passion naturally evolved into a deep love for body modification - and he's been piercing professionally for 17 years now.
In August 2019, Joey opened Superficial ModSpa with a clear vision: to create a luxury studio dedicated exclusively to body piercing. He wanted to elevate the client experience and offer a space where professionalism, creativity, and care come together.
Joey is known for his artistic eye and precise technique. He approaches every piercing with intention and expertise. In addition to working with client, his goal is to help every client feel seen, confident, and uniquely themselves- leaving the studio not just with a new piercing, but a little extra sparkle.

With nearly a decade of business management experience and a creative spark that ignited her passion for jewelry 5 year ago, Katie brings both heart and hustle to Superficial ModSpa. As our studio manager, she oversees daily operations with a focus on creating a seamless, welcoming, and elevated experience for every client.
Katie is also a highly skilled permanent jewelry artist, offering custom-fit, bespoke designs from bracelets, necklaces, anklets, and adding chains to ear piercings.

Anna Wells
Junior Body Piercer
Jewelry Stylist & Specialist
With a degree in Graphic Design from MassArt and a strong eye for detail, Anna brings her artistic background into every aspect of the client experience.
For the past four years, she's been an essential part of the Superficial ModSpa team as a piercing hygienist and apprentice - assisting clients with jewelry changes, curations, and styling with care and creativity.
Now stepping into her next chapter as a Junior Piercer, Anna is expanding her skills under the mentorship of owner & master piercer, Joey PriXx. Her calm presence, design-savvy eye, and dedication to client comfort make her a natural in the piercing room.

Emma has spent the last few years at Superficial ModSpa as one of our guest experience experts - welcoming clients, guiding them through jewelry selections, providing aftercare education, and ensuring every visit feels seamless and supportive.
In addition to being our in-house Tooth Gem Artist, known for her eye-catching sparkle placement, Emma is now stepping into the world of body piercing as an official piercing apprentice.
She's currently diving into hands-on training, learning jewelry changes, and assisting with follow-ups while continuing to bring her calm attentive energy to every client interaction.
Emma is available for tooth gems, downsizes, jewelry changes, and select piercing appointments.

Alerisa is here to make your booking and studio experience a breeze. Her goal is to ensure a smooth operation of the day for both the client and the rest of our staff. As our Assistant Manager, she helps oversee our Guest Experience Experts to ensure every visit feels seamless and welcoming.
In her role as Social Media Manager, Alerisa creates engaging content with our clients and is now leading the charge on our YouTube channel- PriXxLife- brining behind-the-scenes moments and educational insight to life. She is always ready to answer your questions and offer her expert opinions on what jewelry looks the best.
