Due to the nature of COVID-19 and for the health and safety of all concerned, Superficial ModSpa is unable to pierce or perform jewelry changes for any nostril or oral piercings. All procedures that require the removal of a face mask will be on hold until further notice. In the process of bringing Superficial ModSpa to life, owner and creator Joey PriXx came up with the concept of a “ModSpa.” Inspired by his experiences as a client in MedSpas, Joey set out to create a state-of-the-art luxury piercing studio that operated at the level of a surgical suite. Body modification meets the MedSpa experience at Superficial ModSpa where we uphold surgical standards of sterilization and sanitization while cultivating a comfortable and inviting environment for every procedure and client.

At Superficial ModSpa, the health and safety of our clients has always been and continues to be our number one priority. We are committed to creating an environment in which we not only carry out best industry practices, but elevate those practices to accommodate the current pandemic concerns. From our upgraded PPE requirements to the new and continuing staff training, we are doing everything in our power to ensure you sparkle as we navigate our way through the reopening phases of COVID-19.
The rockstar team at Superficial ModSpa has stepped up their PPE game from not only being required to wear a mask, but also incorporating a whole new anti-microbial hospital scrub uniform. We have provided both surgical and fabric masks, eye protection and face shields for our entire staff.
It is a requirement that all clients wear a face mask at all times. If you arrive without a mask and need to purchase one, please let us know before you arrive; we have a retail selection starting at $3 and will have your selected mask ready for you upon arrival. At this time, we will not be able to provide any services if the mask has to be removed (unless it is determined completely essential by Joey PriXx).
At the start of every shift, all employees are required to have their temperature checked with a touch-free thermometer and sign off that they are not experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.
INTENSE STAFF TRAINING
Your safety has always been our top priority, and we do not take the COVID-19 pandemic lightly.
Our piercing practitioners and our Guest Experience Experts are required to take a yearly Blood Borne Pathogens course offered by the Association of Professional Piercers ensuring thorough knowledge and understanding of blood borne pathogens and protection for all. Our entire staff has also successfully completed and has been tested on the PPE course offered by the Association of Professional Piercers. The Superficial ModSpa team has worked together to learn and uphold improved standards of sanitization, contact, and overall safety for staff and clients alike.
We have always prided ourselves on our extensive cleaning processes consisting of daily cleaning schedules, specific procedures and separate storage for both contaminated and sterile materials, use of hospital grade disinfectants and sanitization techniques, and routine check-ins on standards and practices of each staff member. We are continuing to carry out these practices and are incorporating new methods where appropriate to ensure an ideal environment for all.
While prior to COVID-19 we used air purifiers in both procedure and sterilization rooms, we have now expanded our purifying system to each and every room. We have also increased the number of hand sanitization stations at optimal access points, and we are scheduling time for proper disinfecting and sanitization of our establishment before and after each appointment.
In order to meet our clients’ jewelry and aftercare needs during reopening phases nationwide, we have begun to offer a Personal Shopping Experience. Just head to our website and complete a request form, and our trained Guest Experience Experts will be your personal shoppers, helping you with all of your jewelry and aftercare needs. We will gather and bundle all of the essentials for you, and we can either schedule a time for a contact-free, curbside pick-up, or else arrange shipping to the address you’ll list on your request form.
For the time being, we will be running by appointment only in order to comply with social distancing guidelines and to ensure our schedule is staggered for the safety of our clients and our staff.
We have switched our existing consent form over to an electronic, online based, HIPAA compliant form The link for e-consent forms at the bottom of our website and will need to be filled out within 24 hours prior to arriving for your appointment.
When you arrive for your appointment, we ask that you call us to inform you are here, and we will let you know when we are ready for you to enter.
Our reception desk has been surrounded by a customized partition in order to limit contact and uphold social distancing guidelines between our clients and our Guest Experience Experts.
When you walk in, you will either be brought immediately to the procedure room or have private access to our custom jewelry showroom with one of our experts based on your scheduled services. This will ensure we can limit contact and opportunities for contamination during your visit.
When you’re done with your procedure, our sanitized Square Card Reader will be available for debit and credit card transactions and will be sanitized immediately following use. While we are still accepting cash, card transactions are preferred in order to limit potential exposure.

Due to recent developments regarding COVID-19, Superficial ModSpa will remain temporarily closed until further notice - We fall under Step 2 of Phase 2 in Governor Baker’s plan to reopen the state of Massachusetts.
Although this is unfortunate, we must continue to practice and encourage social distancing to protect the health and safety of our staff, our clients, our family and friends as this has and will continue to be our number one priority.
We have been hard at work to prepare for our post COVID-19 reopening which includes further staff training, an online store, and interior upgrades. Our team will begin the process of undergoing the necessary training to be able to provide a socially distanced luxury experience so that we are able to continue to make the south shore sparkle.
